Here is a glimpse of what I found in my garden this morning. Those of you who live further south on our continent may wonder why all the fuss, but here in northerly Alberta, it's common to have snow this time of year. So to find these little primulas in bloom is a real treat!
Perhaps these quiet bloomers are as surprised as I am..... for they usually do not have a foil of crunchy autumn leaves to frame their pretty heads. I like this texture and color combination.

I love your pictures! and I too love the contrast of the crunchy, dry brown leaves against the soft, colorful leaves and blossoms of the primulas. They speak so much about the cycle of death and life. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful little plants...I must buy mine in the spring round Easter.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! I love 'em!
ReplyDeletelovely flowers
ReplyDeleteAre they violets? beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and such a delightful finding! Serendipity!
ReplyDeleteWe call them primroses. I love them in the spring, and they are so hardy and tolerant of abuse! I had a white one bloom all winter a few years ago. It wasn't very noticeable because it blended with the snow, but it was blooming!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are really nice, I like the autumn leaves and the stones surrounding the flowers.
Amazing! Imagine blooms like that at this time of year!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!
ReplyDeleteWe love the color of those flowers, and we're glad you're enjoying unexpectedly good weather.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! We had frost on our lawn this morning for the first time. Haven't check my potager yet. Hope the peas and lettuce are fine.
