Simple Pleasures Thursday

"It is the sweet, simple things of life
which are the real ones after all."
Laura Ingalls Wilder

We're joining with Dayle at A Collection of This and That on her Simple Pleasures Thursday.  Dayle says she set this time up in her week to help her 'slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life.'  I like that!  It fits with what I've been longing to do in my own life.

To me there's nothing like the SIMPLE PLEASURE of eating hot buttered toast smothered in blackberry jam, and sipping a freshly brewed coffee with it.

Here's to enjoying your own simple pleasures this Thursday!

  2. Vee, do you watch the old Miss Marple movies (the one where Miss Marple is played by Joan Hickson)... and some of the other classics from BBC....

do you notice they're often sitting down to breakfast?

It makes me hunger for bacon, eggs and toast, with a freshly brewed cup of coffee EVERY time....

    BTW, my toast was DELISH!

  4. Brenda,
I am a toast and jelly girl for as far back as I can remember! When I was raising my babies and didn't really have time for a big breakfast - toast and jelly (usually grape back then) and a cup of coffee or tea was just the thing! Love your Simple Pleasure today.

  6. I just recorded a quote on our church prayer line "Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were really the big things." You enjoy the little things, too. And this toast and jam is one of the prettiest little things I have seen today!

  7. Bah can't say anything to do with food is a simple pleasure for me
As I'm as a picky eater as can be
Worse then a two year old I'd say
But that is just my way
Heck the cat eats more variety then me
    So you see
    That simple pleasure
    I just can't measure..haha

  9. Coffee, toast with cheese and marmalade was part of my simple pleasure this morning. I see you have some cheddar there to the side. The sweetness of the jam and the saltiness of the jam is a perfect combination (and much healthier than chips and chocolate :) Happy day to you, Tammy

  11. That definitely is a simple pleasure and treat. You realize it even more when you're on a carb restricted diet, and you think, "I just want a simple piece of toast and jam!"

(I put an exclamation mark since I generally think it passionately. LOL)

  17. Enjoying simple pleasures -- isn't that what we cats have been saying all along? Still, it's good when a human shows that she understands the finer things in life. :-)
