"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." ~ from Isaiah 40
Some years ago, when I was worn and ill physically, I often came to these words for comfort and hope. And, as I waited the these words became reality in my own life.
During this season I often spent time just being quiet and still -- not praying, not worrying, just resting -- and I would always come away feeling rested in my mind and heart, which somehow seemed to soak into every cell of my body. I'd feel physically strengthened.
Personally, I don't know what I would have done if I not discovered that God was a place, a Person from whom I could receive strength for my day. Today, I offer Him as a place of refuge for anyone who might need an oasis of rest in their own journey through this imperfect world.
Wishing you strength for the day!

thanks there is strength and peace available as a gift!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this wonderful post today. I need that strength and I've taken much from the passage you left for us to read.
ReplyDeleteWhat a worthy refuge He is! I've found myself cradled in His arms on several occasions in my life, and run there still whenever a dose of grace, or mercy, or comfort is needed.

In a fast paced world, I forget that we can "rest".
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reminder to wait on the Lord.
Rich post full of hope and blessing. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this. Thank you for sharing, Brenda. I needed that photo and verse today. How seldom I sit and simply drink in God's love and grace.
