A Rose

Hansa Rose (Rugosa)

What a treat to find our very first rose of summer. A happy harbinger of many lovely things ready to burst forth as summer officially begins. Not only is it a lovely rose, but the hansa is very fragrant. When the bush is in full flush, our garden is filled with its heady scent.

  1. Oh so pretty!

Years ago my hubby had the most lovely rose garden. We ordered all sorts of varieties from Jackson & Perkins, and he nurtured them with the care of a new mother. They grew to be incredible additions to our yard, and I remember their fragrance still.

Thanks for a dose of nature's brilliance, and a chance to revisit another time.

    Be blessed,
    Kathleen

  4. Isn't it funny how we say "a simple rose." so beautiful and complex. I think sometimes simple means classic.

  5. Oh I do love roses and the colour of this one is gorgeous! I came home from my trip to find a lovely bouquet of roses and hydrangeas on the table, and lots more in the garden.
And now I'm awake, way too early, but using the time to catch up on my favourite bloggers!

    have a wonderful day,

  8. WOW! My mom loved her rose gardens. I have such sweet memories of her donning her long rose gloves and snipping several to bring in to the house. They absolutely filled the rooms with the most soothing fragrance. Roses bring my mother back to me...
    They'll always be a favorite.

I can't help but giggle at Groucho's quote. What a guy! I wonder if he got very many second dates?

  9. I love the bouquet of comments that come my way. Thank you for taking the time to add a blossom to the whole bouquet. It adds depth and layering which is what makes the beauty of any floral arrangement.
