"This is a book about...
rooms that tell stories."
ALEX JOHNSON
The weekend is here, and I'm sorry that I don't have a new post for you today. I've been writing a guest post for InScribe which was published this morning. In it, I chat about a new book I have been slow reading. Called Rooms of Their Own, Where Great Writers Write by Alex Johnson, it's a new favourite for me. To read more, click HERE.
I'm including a couple of illustrations from the book to whet your appetite:
Beatrix Potter's writing retreat at Hilltop
Isabel Allende's writing studio in California
It's snowing here this morning. And the temperatures have dropped back down to more normal winter temps (-14C). We were enjoying above freezing temps earlier in the week. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Till next week then...

The illustrations alone, particularly the front cover, draw me in. Isn't the straw hat of Beatrix Potter just lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it's a lovely straw hat indeed, Barbara. And the book is as charming throughout -- wonderful essays and marvelous illustrations to go with each. Hope you are keeping well. xo
DeleteEnjoyed reading your post on the Inscribe blog. It's cooled down considerably here today too. We're in for another cold snap which, in my world, translates into cozy at-home days. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe cold snap this weekend is perfect for settling oneself with a good book, homemade treats, and a pot of tea at the ready. Thanks for your note, Linda.
DeleteI love having a desk for sketching and working in my journals. I walk into the room and smile when I see it waiting on me with a project in the works.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Diane. There's something lovely about having that special space at the ready for the projects we love to work on.
DeleteBrenda your book has certainly wet my appetite - looks like a wonderful way to spend a cold winter afternoon. We have been above normal here for January also. Hope your weekend is great. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you, Debbie. I hope you get a chance to see/read that book in person - it truly is lovely. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead.
DeleteI enjoyed reading your review on the Inscribe blog, Brenda. It looks like a lovely book and something I would very much enjoy. The illustrations are delightful. It's always inspiring to see where writers and artists created their work. We are expecting snow this weekend, but just a dusting. Hope you have a cozy weekend. x K
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to hear from you, Karen. Thanks for your note! Wishing you a pleasant week ahead. xo
DeleteP.S. Brenda, I left a comment and it came out as from "Anonymous." This is Susan from Writing Straight from the Heart. I am most dreadful when it comes to techie stuff. I have no idea why my messages are coming out anonymous. Anyway, keep up the good work and keep writing!
