Hey -- wait a minute ... we haven't even had autumn yet. What's with the white stuff? You are w-a-a-a-a-a-y too early. And what about my poor flowers... and my sweet birdies. Sigh.... thankfullywedear hubby picked all the tomatoes last night.
What's a person to do in such circumstances? We could wring our hands and lament ... or we could chop onions and celery and meaty tomatoes, let them saute until soft, shake the snow off some thyme and greek oregano, and chop into the mix, add hot stock, a few ready-made-from-the-freezer meatballs, and a handful of orzo ... and watch hubby's face light up when he comes home from the gym to find a pot of homemade soup impromptu.
Aren't we lucky then to have some movies we want to watch, books to read (I'm finally getting around to reading Eat, Pray, Love... and enjoying it very much), and tea's set out to brew later with some ginger cookies. For this afternoon.
Guess we can handle it ... if we have to, I guess !

Oh dear...that seems very early? Your poor flowers, it will be such a shock for them.
ReplyDeleteUh-oh. I'm totally with you on it being waaaaaaaay too early for snow! So far, it's only rain here, but we're only a degree above freezing. Think I'll get some soup going too, and let the weather take care of itself while I settle in with some quilting while enjoying an audiobook. ;o)

Dear Brenda - I have just spent a delightful half an hour just reading through this post and your other lovely ones. I come away so refreshed (except - oh no not snow- you are so right way too early)! Hope it doesn't last. Take care my friend and thank you for making my heart much happier fro my visit here.
ReplyDeleteOh, my Brenda, I can't even imagine getting snow right now! We did get over 4 " of rain in Texas over the weekend, so are very happy with the moisture. You are right that it is way to early for snow. I'm guessing it didn't last long?
ReplyDeleteOh, oh. We saw snow in Canmore last week (in the mountains above the town) but came home to hot temperatures and I thought Alberta was heating up again, too. Guess I was wrong. You are making the most of the situation - homemade soup, tea, and cookies! Perfect.

Oh, Brenda, I agree...it is WAY too early for snow. But you have a great attitude about it---after all, you COULD complain, but what good would that do. It wouldn't change a thing, and it would make everyone miserable. You are doing what the serenity prayer tells us to do..."accept the things we cannot change." Good for you!

Okay, so we won't talk about the weather. Which means I don't get to yell "SNOW?!? ALREADY?!?" and tell you that I'd actually rather have that than the hot muggies we were still enduring while you were having white flakes, and I don't get to say that our temps are now lowering (but not enough to snow), and it's really too bad I can't say all that. I would have loved to tell you how much I liked the video of something we can't mention. :) (I really did enjoy this post!)
