The Odd Couple

We were all dressed up to go out for the morning; I left the house with earrings bobbling from my earlobes as per usual, not realizing something was not as per usual.

During the morning, I met and talked to various people. I came home to meet with our garden designer (we're finally doing something to our benignly neglected front yard). We trotted together around the yard, chatted at the dining room table over plans and tea.....

All the while
Yours truly was wearing two different earrings!

The funny thing... NO ONE seemed to notice.  I talked to friends and strangers face to face -- and got no odd stares. And funnier yet, I glanced my own face in the powder room mirror a time or two over the day... and NOPE, I didn't notice either!

Mmm... what does that say about our observation skills? Do we just see what we think should be there? Perhaps people thought I was just being creative. Yes, that must be it.

Oh, for the beauty of laughter,
Brenda

  1. hee hee... funny that no one noticed as those earrings are very different from one another. Thanks for the chuckle, Brenda.

Stay warm and dry today. Biscuits with homemade soup sounds perfect for the weather we're having. You read my mind! I think I need to get some cooking for later.

  2. Believe it or not, I have actually deliberately worn 2 different earrings! I seem to lose about as many earrings as I do socks in the dryer...so sometimes I have paired up a couple of complementary ones.

Your biscuits & soup sound DElicious!

  4. Too funny. I've done that before and no one noticed then, either, though I was wearing stud earrings, not the dangly ones. (Beautiful earrings, by the way.) That sounds like a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

  5. They probably just thought it was a fashion statement! As another commenter said, i've done this before on purpose! LOL

  7. I'll bet everyone noticed and thought you were an edgy fashionista. Looks like we're in for another gray, wet day too. *sigh* Summer is officially only a few days away - what happened to spring...?

  8. I once wore my top inside out all day at school. It wasn't until the last period that one of my friends came up to me and asked me why I was wearing it that way. Guess everyone else thought it was some kind of fashion statement or didn't notice. Have a nice day!

  9. I've done the same thing, but mine were the same earrings...just two different colors...one pink, one purple! :-)

  10. Hi Brenda! You know I did something even funnier one time. I once went to church wearing two completely different white shoes! I was in such a hurry to get ready I just looked for "color" and ran out the door. No one noticed either! (Or if they did they were kind enough not to mention it, or maybe they just wrote it off as just another in a long list of quirky: "Delisa moments"!) :)

I just wanted to let you know Brenda that we are going through a bit of a rough patch with some illness in the family. Things are looking up and I think she will be back up and on her feet again in a couple of weeks. But until then it is taking a lot of my concentration and energy, and I haven't been able to write as much as I normally like. So for a while I am going to be posting some repeat stories on the blog. If you don't hear from me, just know how much I truly appreciate your comments and that I am popping over whenever I can to read your beautiful blog. Your humor and the beautiful serenity of your pictures, stories and quotes is like the feeling of my first sip, of my favorite tea in a delicate china cup! Have a lovely weekend ahead! Delisa :)

  12. How funny! I have walked out with the wrong shoes before - just too distracted. I was thinking of tea cakes but made oatmeal cookies for my husband - will surely make them or scones soon!
