The Simple Beauty of A Glimpse

Here is a glimpse of what I found in my garden this morning. Those of you who live further south on our continent may wonder why all the fuss, but here in northerly Alberta, it's common to have snow this time of year. So to find these little primulas in bloom is a real treat!

Perhaps these quiet bloomers are as surprised as I am..... for they usually do not have a foil of crunchy autumn leaves to frame their pretty heads.  I like this texture and color combination.

  1. I love your pictures! and I too love the contrast of the crunchy, dry brown leaves against the soft, colorful leaves and blossoms of the primulas. They speak so much about the cycle of death and life. Thanks for sharing :)

  4. We call them primroses. I love them in the spring, and they are so hardy and tolerant of abuse! I had a white one bloom all winter a few years ago. It wasn't very noticeable because it blended with the snow, but it was blooming!
Your pictures are really nice, I like the autumn leaves and the stones surrounding the flowers.
