Perfectly Pink!

2009 by Brenda Colleen Leyland

I'll always remember the day last August, when I finally decided to 'just jump in' and create a blog for the very first time. I didn't have a clue how to begin -- it was such a learning curve, but, my, what a joyful climb it's been!

As the New Year started unfolding a few days ago, I had another one of those 'just jump in' moments. This time for a venture called Perfectly Pink! and if you link on it, you'll notice it's a brand new blog.

When a friend, who is a Director with Mary Kay Inc, first asked me to write her newsletter in 2004, I didn't realize the joy ride I would begin. For I found a niche, a spot, that seemed to fit perfectly with my interests in creativity and writing, and my love for beauty.

With the added sparkle and fun of blogging these past months, I began to dream of embroidering the two joys into something that will motivate, inspire and equip women to live their lives, not only more successfully, but more beautifully (whether they are in Mary Kay or not).

So, that's what I've been working on these past few days. It's in earliest bud stages, but I like to think we're onto something perfectly pink!

I'm off to work on my newsletter. Enjoy your day!

Pinkly perfect,

  1. good for you. I do a newsletter for our local writer's group and it's fun to be creative and further something you really like. I'm toying with the idea of making a family history blog since I will be teaching in Feb locally how to do that. interesting what one thing leads to another. good luck with your new endeavor.

  2. Lin, I'm still captivated by the idea you planted in my mind when you said in a resent blog that you were working toward earning $1000 this year with your writings.

In fact, I'm going to take up a similar challenge. Will think about it.

So thank you for being a great example! And for the affirmation about my new venture.

  3. Good luck with your new blog, I'll have to check it out! Enjoy!

  4. Sherri, Thanks for the wishes!

  5. I just read your entire "Perfectly Pink" site. It's fabulous, dahling!! No, really. It's wonderful! I don't want to miss a single article in the future. I'm sure you're aware of the gift you have... you are a true word merchant! But, trivia can be well stated and beautifully written. Your essays have meat to them, Brenda.

This is your calling. I have no doubt that you're a great Mary Kay rep. But, you have been blessed with a natural ability to motivate and inspire. You've taken that gift and honed it... polished it.
I would love to see you reaching a much larger audience! It would be terrific if your articles could be published in a booklet form and passed out at Mary Kay Conventions. Do you speak as well as you write?

Frankly, I'm a much better speaker than I am writer. I can get into the dramatics of a presentation. How about you? What is your dream? How would you most likle to share your talents with others to encourage, uplift and comfort them?

  6. Caryn, Thanks for your further comments on this posting.... and thank you so much for the perfectly pink feedback! (When you mention about me being a MK rep, I don't even do that... I use the product and love it; I do the newsletter and love it; I hang around MK gals cause they're so positive, but I do the business part of it.)

About your idea to put the articles into a booklet form for MK conventions, etc. I have thought of something similar, and have actually started gathering material. But at the moment, it's one of those unfinished projects I mentioned in the clutter post.

About blogging, I have come to realize that my nature and bent actually thrives in this atmosphere. Writing a book -- the end result no matter how small a book isn't something that can be done quickly -- but writing a few articles and posting them on-line, with people seeing them immediately and even responding occasionally, that really makes my eyes sparkle! If I keep blogging, I'll get my instant 'reward', so then maybe I will have the stamina to hang and and stay at a long-term project without giving up because I don't have any feedback yet.

So, thank you, dear lady, for encouraging me...... that must be one of your gifts, because I note comments you post on other blogs are just as encouraging and affirming!
